BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Friday, May 20, 2011) – The final day of the Billabong Rio Pro is LIVE in two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at Barra da Tijuca and today’s action will begin with Round 5 and eventually crown a champion by day’s end.
Stop No. 3 of 11 on the men’s ASP World Title Series, the Billabong Rio Pro has seen the world’s best surfers tackle a variety conditions as the event shifted locations from the lefthander of Arpoador to the beachbreak of Barra Da Tijuca.
“We’ve returned to Barra da Tijuca this morning and plan to get an early start with Round 5,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “Today’s conditions should be the best on offer for the remainder of the waiting period and we’ll crown a winner by the end of the day.”
Kicking off today’s opening heat will be Damien Hobgood (USA), 32, against Bobby Martinez (USA), 28, in Heat 1 of Round 5.
